Hi! Thanks for your interest in our study!
Our research study - CanTec-19 operates out of McMaster University and is looking at how has COVID-19 has impacted your life… And we want to hear your voice!
The study is part of a global network of studies on how the pandemic is affecting teenagers in Canada, Ethiopia, Ghana, India, South Africa, and the UK. In the study you will talk to, problem solve, and connect with other teenagers, and also learn to use art as a way to express the feelings that you have had since the start of this pandemic and school closing.
If you want to participate, you can invite up to 7 of your friends to join you- you and your friends would get together to chat online for an hour using Zoom with our research team, twice during the summer, and twice over the fall/winter.
We also want to know what you have been eating and doing (sleeping, exercise, video games) and how you’ve been feeling so we will ask you to fill out some questionnaires online about how you’ve been feeling. They are short, and easy to fill out on your phone, or computer.
Sometimes how you are feeling is hard to talk about so in part of this study, we will invite you to participate in 2 live, interactive, online workshops with a local Hamilton Artist talking about using collage and Zines to express your thoughts and feelings around COVID-19 and how it has impacted your life. If you want to, you can also show the art you create through these workshops in a special online exhibition–the Art Gallery of Hamilton's Virtual Youth Gallery!
As a thank you for sharing your time and thoughts and helping us understand how Canadian teens are doing during COVID19, you’ll have a chance to enter a draw for one of three $100 Amazon Gift cards!
If you’re interested and want to know more details about when and how the Zoom calls and express yourself workshops will take place, how we’ll protect your privacy and make CanTec19 a safe space, or other things we didn’t cover here, please talk to your parents and please contact us at email@example.com, or via social media @cantec19.
You should know too that this study has been reviewed by the Hamilton Integrated Research Ethics Board, Study #11283.
We’re looking forward to hearing your voice as one of those telling the story of the pandemic!
The CanTec19 Team
